Our Kitten Process
Kitten Pricing
Our kittens are currently priced at $3,800.
To reserve a place on our Kitten Pick List, we require a non-refundable deposit of $1,000.
At Omega Maine Coons, we operate as a Kitten Pick Order Cattery. Our goal is to responsibly plan our litters so that we never have more kittens than we have loving families waiting for. To accomplish this, we typically reserve 4–5 kittens prior to a litter being born.
Families secure their place on the Kitten Pick List through their deposit, and kitten selections are made in the order deposits are received during Kitten Pick Weekend. If your preferred gender is not available within that litter, your deposit may be transferred to a future litter.
In the event that a litter produces more kittens than we have reserved homes for, we may begin accepting additional deposits once the kittens are approximately 2–3 weeks old. This allows us time to evaluate the litter before opening additional reservation spots.
One of the experiences that truly sets Omega Maine Coons apart is our “Kitten Pick Weekend,” held when the kittens reach approximately 8 weeks of age. During this special visit, families are invited to the cattery to meet all of our adult cats and spend time with the kittens before selecting their newest family member.
Leading up to Kitten Pick Weekend, we provide regular photo and video updates so families can enjoy watching the litter grow and develop from the very beginning. However, individual kittens are not selected until Kitten Pick Weekend itself.
Policies
General Information
At Omega Maine Coons, the health, well-being, and placement of our cats and kittens are incredibly important to us. To help ensure our kittens are placed in loving, appropriate homes, all prospective families are required to complete a Kitten Application and receive approval prior to placing a deposit on a kitten or litter.
Once your application has been submitted, we will contact you via text message or email to discuss the next steps. Please note that all references provided on your application will be contacted, including veterinary references. We kindly ask that you notify your veterinarian in advance so they are aware we may be reaching out. Interviews are offered only after satisfactory references have been received.
Our kittens typically go home between 12–16 weeks of age. Before leaving for their new homes, each kitten will receive:
A comprehensive health examination
Age-appropriate vaccinations
Deworming
Microchipping
Extensive socialization and handling
Families who have reserved a spot on a litter will receive regular photo and video updates as the kittens grow. Individual kitten selections are made during our Kitten Pick Weekend at approximately 8 weeks of age.
All kittens sold as pets are required to be spayed or neutered by 10 months of age. A TICA pedigree slip will be provided upon proof of spay or neuter. Failure to complete this requirement may result in enforcement of our Spay/Neuter Contract.
The health of our breeding program is one of our highest priorities. All Kings and Queens are tested for:
HCM
PKD
PKDef
SMA
FIV
FeLV
Blood type
Over 46 additional genetic diseases
We do not breed cats that test positive for any of these conditions.
Our kittens come with a two-year health guarantee covering certain genetic diseases, including:
HCM
PKD
PKDef
SMA
Additionally, all kittens are guaranteed to be free of FIV and FeLV at the time they leave for their new homes.
Delivery & Transportation
We offer delivery services for families who are unable to pick up their kitten in person. Delivery is available for $300 plus the cost of airfare through a premium “white glove” travel service, ensuring your kitten never travels as cargo.
Transportation costs vary depending on destination, airline pricing, and kitten size:
Domestic U.S. transportation typically ranges from approximately $300–$550
International transportation, including Europe, generally ranges from $1,500–$2,000
All transportation pricing is subject to current airline rates and travel requirements.
Visits & Updates
We welcome scheduled home visits and love giving families the opportunity to meet our cats and kittens in person. Families with reserved spots on upcoming litters will also receive regular photos and videos so they can enjoy watching the kittens grow prior to Kitten Pick Weekend.
